Louis Vuitton: Of Fabric & Feathers (Paris, France / London, UK)

While I may not be the biggest Louis Vuitton fan on the planet (I see too many of their bags on a daily basis - don't mind the large trunks though), they tend to have some pretty nifty windows and this season I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw in both the Paris and London flagships. The Parisian displays emphasized LV's tradition by showcasing layers and piles of yarn, leather and other materials in a workshop setting. The British on the other hand relied on a few feathered creatures to spice up their windows. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably choose the latter, simply because I'm a sucker for humorous displays - especially coming from a large fashion house.

So which do you prefer?

  1. Interesting how the two stores have such contrasting displays (busy vs. restrained), They are both pretty, though. I really like the shoes hatching out of the eggs.

  8. Omg definitely love the U.K. displays, simple, minimalistic but with an odd twist that is enough to keep my attention, the parisian location was way too busy for my eyes, too much confusion and dissaray lol

  9. I have to say, as much as I dislike LV bags lately (it seams every schoolgirl thinks that LV is an absolutely must have) I am stunned by the beauty of the window display. They are so unique and creative! One of the best, I think, I saw this Fall. Thank you so very much for giving me such a joy.:-)))
I would love to have a cup of coffee with you and Paris!I promise to let you know as soon as will have a clear understanding of my schedule in Paris. Right now it is still in the making.:-) Have a very beautiful weekend!

  11. I do not window shop, I window admire like you.
I was fortunate enough to be in Paris last Christmas and the window displays were over the top.
Then again, everything is beautifully presented year round in Paris, even the cheese.

  23. Loving the spools and the sketches, I wish they had more displays like that. I always feel awkward walking into Louis Vuitton, the London store is always packed full of people trying to buy the pieces with the largest monograms on them...

  44. Whilst I am not overly keen on anything LV except their vintage leather cases - I must confes that the Paris window is very nicely dressed. You preparing for the Paris Fashion Week? We must meet up, then;-)

  45. omg that is so cool! I love the display, and so colorful too. I wish they'd make some with silver instead of gold hardware though cuz I got so much silver jewelry and shoes

  51. I feel exactly like you: I don't really like Louis Vuitton that much and never have, so I never ever shop there. But their stores always look amazing, so I always look at their windows (there is a store close to where I live) and sometimes even pop in just to look around.

Louis Vuitton is probably the only brand where I love the stores, but not the merchandise, usually it is the other way around!

  52. Hard to choose, but I think the slices of patent leather win me over to the Parisian side! I'm also a sucker for kaleidoscopic colors in general, so the thread spools and dangling shoes were pure eye candy for me. I do, however, love the idea of hatching shoes... Maybe Vuitton should switch from couture to interior design!
    Great post!
