Every year during the holiday season, Parisian department store Printemps hosts some of the most spectacular windows you'll find in the city - thanks (in part) to the big-name designers who lend some of their creative ideas to these displays. The storefront consists of luxuriously decorated static windows, but the biggest crowd-pleasers are the animated ones featuring dancing marionette dolls. While last year's windows were presented by Dior and Chanel, who curated two windows each, this year's four windows were dedicated to Lanvin.
As previously mentioned in my post last week, the new windows were unveiled in a grand ceremony by Alber Elbaz himself, along with Lanvin fan Kristin Scott-Thomas. According to Elbaz (via WWD): "It’s quite bizarre to see your cartoon in the windows dancing and running. I was just told that each puppet will be running in two months about 200 kilometers, so I’m thinking, God, how many calories are they burning there?” The windows, show mini versions of Miss and Mr. Lanvin in a French chateau (aptly titled "Noel au Chateau") and will be on display until the end of December.
Aside from taking a few photos, I've also attempted to capture videos of these windows. Apologies in advance for my camera's auto-focus, but I hope you get the idea. In my defense, I took these at 7:30 AM (a rare time of the day when the windows were still clear of people) and I hadn't had my morning coffee yet. I'll also be blogging the static Printemps windows in a separate post next week.
The story begins with Miss and Mr. Lanvin preparing for a feast in the chateau. Though to me it looks like Mr. Lanvin is doing all the work... (rightfully so):
In some cases Miss Lanvin helps a little (top), but she doesn't mind being carried around either (lower right).
Taking a break from the preparation work, Miss and Mr. Lanvin finally get to enjoy a bit of music and dance...

Having survived the ghost scare, Miss and Mr. Lanvin can finally enjoy a feast of tasty treats from Ladurée...

It is totally amazing what the visual people can come up with each year. Bergdorf Goodman's windows are a complete knockout; just so beautiful. I love the color of the Lanvin windows. xx's

You make me feel so..... awake! I have spent entire weekend in bed, suffering tremendous back and neck pain (comes with being a Milliner), feeling miserable and feeling like I have to quit everything all together. Looked through your post, got tremendously inpsired and now can not wait to get to my Atelier to put up Christmas Windows. Gigantic THANK YOU! and millin kisses from New York.
ReplyDeleteWooww this is so amazing and adorable at the same time! I'd love to witness this personally but alas that's not happening anytime soon. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeletethanks for taping it down. i like the 1st one and the 3rd one's scary cute. the guy's a genius. no wonder he's enjoying godly status. his collab with h&m is probably the biggest thing to happen this year...
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures, I love that window display.
ReplyDeleteResponse>> I agree, It would have been better if you could remove the seed and wash them. Slippers that you can't wash feels a little bit nasty...
this is what I call a fairytale. also very charming idea of mr lanvin as hardworking man and mrs as bit lazy girl. actually adore that idea :)))
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous and festive!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these lovely pics, darling!

Wow - it's incredible how much of a household Lanvin has become in recent years, in great part due to the H&M collabo. The Lanvin windows look like paradise in miniature.
ReplyDeleteBedazzling!
ReplyDeleteLike a popinjay, I cannot seem to ever have enough sparkle and glitz. As Voltaire so wisely declared, "The superfluous is absolutely necessary." Well done, you!
Oooh aren't these just fabulous!?!?! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh how fun, and how French! Your photos and the video made me feel as if I was actually there, I had a long daydream moment - thank you! (I am coming in April, it's a sure thing - my passport didn't arrive in time for haute couture week but all is sorted now!)
ReplyDeleteall these little dolls in the windows are adorable. that would be so cool to see in person.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! THis is cuteness overload!! These are amazingly French and so intricate. I think I have said this before but... I want your LIFE!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lanvin Christmas window is wonderful!... and thanks for showing us.
ReplyDeleteI love the tea and macarons in the pink room and the ghosts flying about.
Happy week

The window displays are so extravagant! I've always loved the Lanvin displays! They bring fun to fashion and make designer wear so approachable with their whole marketing campaign :)
ReplyDeleteWow! It must have taken a great deal of work to put this all together!! So fun and creative! Lanvin = genius! xxoxoxoxoo
ReplyDeleteAW!! so humorous and the cutest xmas window display i've seen this year
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAaaah, what would Hauteworld be without Lanvin!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I have a problem with Christmas displays this year... I feel that they overdid them way too much (Selfridges in London is... CHEESY), maybe it's to make people spend more but I miss the glorious minimalistic/subtle scenographic years!!!
Oh, how I wish that we had Christmas store window displays like this in Southern California!! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG these are amazing! Wish I could see them in person!

These are so wonderfully creepy! And so much more elaborate than the stupid store windows in San Francisco. Well, those are actually really cute because they're filled with puppies. But still not nearly artistic as these beauties ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love Christmas decoration!! And these are amazingly done, thanks for sharing :)

Oh wow!! I am overwhelmed with delight at these incredibly grand and extravagant displays.... It must had really been something to see them in person. There is an almost creepy element to Lanvin's artistic elements but I do think that is what puts them over the top and accelerates them into a slight level of brilliance.
