This is probably one of my favorite department stores in the world. Not only is the Tudor building stunning, but once inside, you don't actually feel like you're in a store. Instead it's more like browsing someone's very nice (albeit cluttered!) home. The interior is impressive, with lots of wood-paneling, balconies on each floor and a roof that seems to illuminate the small "courtyards" in the center.

Now if Liberty seems old-fashioned, it really isn't. They don't just stock design classics, but also a wide range of contemporary fashion from international designers. The accessories, gifts and cosmetics departments are where I usually spend most of my time. Everything is well laid out, which makes looking around quite enjoyable. And even though I tend to drop things or embarrassingly knock over products, the staff have always been incredibly helpful and kind without giving me that "oh no you didn't"-look.

Under the Liberty of London range, launched in 2005, you'll also find a great selection of patterned accessories, bags, stationary, linen and more - unique to all Liberty stores. They're not exactly cheap, but good quality and luxurious. They've recently opened a concept store selling only their own branded items...unfortunately I didn't get chance to visit this time around. If you're not in London anytime soon, don't worry. You can shop most of the Liberty collection online! (including non-Liberty branded goods).
