This is just a quick post, but hopefully it should provide enough eye candy to brighten your day. And one can rarely go wrong when it comes to Prada. Whenever I pass the brand's flagship on Bond Street, I always find myself snapping a photo or two, so I thought I'd share some of the images I've taken so far.

Strangely, I always failed to do the same in Paris, where the boutique windows were always dominated by an army of mannequins. Many people I know find them creepy - and the fun usually continues inside...
It seems to be a Prada thing to apply so much of the visual merchandising within the retail space as well - something you usually only see in department stores. What are your thoughts: the more the merrier or mannequin overload?

oh im kind of scared of mannequins.. i always mistake them for people when having them at the end of my eyesight..
ReplyDeletebut i like the windows here. such a nice way to show off the collection
x
I love baroque sunnies so much!
ReplyDeleteI love the mannequins, give the apparel so much life, they can use all different accessories, and there has been many a customer who will buy the entire look when presented this way. Notice how all the hair-styles & hats all have continuity.
ReplyDeletexx's
I don't mind them plus there's never enough of Prada parade for me. x
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing the Prada display, thanks.
ReplyDeleteAlways great to see the clothes on the mannequins, rather that having them hanging on a rack.
Love the Baroque sunglasses and all the stylish suitcases.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
Those Baroque sunnies are amazing!
ReplyDeletePrada always has timeless appeal, with or without mannequins! For people with vivid imaginations, those eerie mannequins are like the "Stepford Wives" come to "life" ;-) Anyway, some of my favorite memories of Milan are inside the Prada boutique!
ReplyDeleteI love those handbags! & those sunglasses look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove Prada (especially that GORGEOUS luggage!), but I think it's mannequin overload!! Wow! Don't think I've ever seen this many in such a small space :o/
ReplyDeleteLOVE PRADA!
ReplyDeleteyou should take a return trip to niagara!
I adore Prada in a huge way and I quite fancy the mannequin over-load. I can certainly understand the tad 'creepy' factor, but quite honestly, seeing clothes displayed on mannequins gives me great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time I took a moment to comment, I hope you are well and enjoying your summer? Let's hope you are traveling much and shopping even more!
Sending you all my best. Counting on meeting one day in Scotland!!

Really love these pictures! Prada shop displays are always a must see

I'd seen this as well in-store and it freaked me out (not just a tiny bit, but a lot!). Really great to see I wasnt the only one. Mannequin Overload!

those sunglasses are SO cool! I think these are one of my fav displays you posted, prob cuz right now I have a thing for trunks. I dunno, I think they would make really cool lookbook pictures like you said "traveling in style" :D
ReplyDeleteI love the travel vibe of these displays! It makes me wish I were en route to Europe. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI think the displays are the best part of shopping, ever so true for a one designer shop. It holds the customer in longer than a quick glances around racks and is so productive.
ReplyDeleteHmm, too many mannequins I think I'd be a little freaked out 0_o
ReplyDeleteXoxo
Sarah
love this post!
ReplyDelete~~ x♥x♥
I love Prada for doing this, it just makes the collection seem so wearable, it is one of my fav stores to visit.
ReplyDeleteMannequins with hair - sounds obvious, but for some reason you just never see it. I think it looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLe sigh. I always have my nose pressed up against such gorgeous windows displays and would certainly be in front of those Prada windows for a long time if I was on that street.
ReplyDeleteEternally yours,
Stephanie
Wow, these photos are awesome. I LOVE the first outfit, so incredible chic. I also love those beautiful bags! That certainly is a lot of mannequins. I'm rather indifferent on the subject.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely week!

Prada gets my heart beating every single time. Love the red display. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteWow this store looks like a visual treat, must give it a visit sometime. I quite like the excessive use of mannequins, makes it seem a bit like an exhibition. I was at the 5pm Yohji Yamamoto showing, such a great concept and location.
ReplyDeletegreat merchandising from the team at prada.
ReplyDeletetotally love the sunglasses, simple window display but the mannequins really has a charateristic, people see it and snap they know it's prada's
ReplyDeletehave just followed you via twitter dear (@vheney)

Love the simple white dresses, so chic!

Must remember to have a peek at the Prada Bond St when next in London. I love the way they dress their windows;-)
ReplyDeleteThe first and last four photographs are my absolute favorites. I am just loving the styling of the shop and shop windows - incredible! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteLove Prada!

I suppose they're a little creepy but that doesn't bother me. To me mannequins are just like big dolls someone has played dress up with.
ReplyDeleteMan, I still want those postcard sunglasses...although I'm not sure they would be at all flattering on my face. That beauty look (with the bright orange lips and side-swept low pigtails) was one of my favorites from Prada.
ReplyDeleteHavent been on Bond Street for a while. Need to go again soon. I get withdrawal symtoms. Xxxx
ReplyDeleteWow! Totally drooling over those Prada bags. Great window shopping pictures! Isn't vicarious consumption the best? xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeletehmm, I'm conflicted about mannequins. I like seeing the garments on a form because it gives it structure and form. However, I feel too many mannequins can be overkill. Plus dressing those forms is a pain.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I love seeing these images of Prada's windows. I especially like the window with the lady mannequin sitting on the suitcases. This window actually has visual storytelling elements, which I like, versus the windows with random dress forms just standing there with a backdrop.

Consider my day brightened! Love me some Prada!
ReplyDeleteI think if they're done right, mannequins are great inspirations for seeing how items look on, b/c sometimes seeing something on the rack doesn't do it justice. However, mannequins can definitely wander into creepy territory, particularly if they use ones that are too "realistic" looking!
ReplyDeletePrada is always innovative and inspiring, I like the London window displays, but the inside images, too many mannequins. I find them rather a distraction than an inspired means of visual merchandising.
ReplyDeleteAda
I usually love visuals. Now of course if you have difficulty finding an empty space for your shopper feet... then well. Love the belt fance-dance!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pics, love it ♥
ReplyDeleteI love Prada, but I do think they're overdoing it on the mannequins a bit
ReplyDeletetotally loving the belted white dresses and the luggage!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can have way too many mannequins. It's a great way to show people how your clothes really hang on the body, because we all know clothes might not always look the same on the hanger or folded up. And it's almost like being backstage at a fashion show or something! I only wish we had displays like this over here.

Love window shopping!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool sunglasses.

They freak me out a bit, but I guess mannequins help to show the wearability of a dress - like the simple white ones, which look absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love what prada did this season for their window displays! Saw the pop up shop in Paris and It was precious! great pics!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, love the styling

I love the display windows! That bold red dress is great! Thanks for sharing doll! xo
ReplyDeleteThose displays are great and the travelling one is my favourite. It's odd to think how very rarely I go up to that part of the city - I should really make more of an effort ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment on my blog which made me smile. At least - last - we finally have some sort of summer weather now. Have a good week xo
um, A *&#*@! PLUS! i love it! i love it all!!!!
ReplyDeletesure mannequins are creepy, but i love them! i think they are fab. the more the merrier!
and i'll take the bags and the sunglasses and the belts (for starters - lol). ALL OF THEM, on the double. i wish!!!!
I like the bag from the third photograph, looks so classy, great to combine! :)
ReplyDeleteGood question, of course mannequins are inspirational and Prada did a great job!
As a designer I would also show a few great combinations for the daily usage, for the evening wardrobe and so on so my purchaser can have a general view.
And yes, your post brightened my day again, you are really one of my favourite bloggers! :)
Thanks for sharing again.
Greetings, Bahar
Cool post! Amazing shop!!
ReplyDeleteI'll take that red dress in the window, :) I love Prada and i've been inspired. Thanks!
ReplyDeletethose sunglasses are soo cool! and lol for the menniquin overloading, well at least from afar it looks like there are lots of people shopping in the store? ;)
