Apologies for the lack of updates, but I'm currently in London with limited Internet access. I'll do my best to post whenever I can though! Despite having already been to London this year (back in Jan/Feb), I never got a chance to post impressions of the city, so here's the first one.
London is possibly my favorite European city and the one I've visited (and will visit) the most - due to both work and leisure. Because I'm here at least 4-5 times a year, this will most likely end up being the city most featured on my blog besides Paris. I will honestly say that I prefer London to Paris. I know that Paris is all chic and romantic... when you're a tourist. But given the choice, I think I would choose to live in the in British capital - just because it's currently cheaper and much greener, i.e. in Paris you can't escape the fact that you're in a big city. Cheaper living not only applies to rental and your everyday groceries, but this time around, I just couldn't help noticing that even French brands such as Chanel or Balenciaga are less pricey... no doubt a result of the current exchange rate. My Starbucks indulgences (I know, I'm bad) cost an average of 40% less here (meaning they're 60% more expensive in Paris) - no joke. Needless to say Zara, H&M and whatever else you may want are a bargain here as well. I've started saving all my must-buy purchases for when I'm in the UK... or get them online.

Brick LaneOf course when it comes to London, you should be checking out vintage stores as well. Even if it's been hyped to death, Brick Lane and the Spitalfields area remain one of my favorite places when it comes to second-hand shopping and anything individual. Oxford Street still gives me the occasional headache - unbearable crowds after 11am, especially in Topshop - while Mayfair's Mount Street seems to have a new designer flagship popping up every month.

London is so beautiful, I really do hope with all my heart that I end up living there at some point in my life. I visited two years ago and I fell absolutely in love.
ReplyDeletewaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. you are killing me. i was in london once about 10 years ago and i would love to go back. i was crazy for that city and ready to move to it IMMEDIATELY. it really is a great place and you are so lucky you get to go so often!
ReplyDeleteI was almost embarrassed to admit it, but of all the places I visited when I went to Europe (Israel, Croatia, Italy, France, The Netherlands) England, and specifically London was my absolute favorite. I want to go back again!
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I'm going to London this summer and it's good to know cool places to go and see. You've got me really excited to visit the city. It's funny how in the U.S we all say how expensive London is, now I can say well at least it's not Paris. That makes justifying shopping so much easier ;)

ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend had better take me to these brilliant places, when I go with him to visit his parents. I adore these images darling.

Wishing you a wonderful sunday morning!
ReplyDeleteLovely "London" post.
I´m going to London this summer with blogger Sofie in
August so advises are always welcome like the Old Spitalfields Market.
And what´s London without shopping or window watching at New Bond Street;) ...and not forget to mention that the Pfund Sterling currency is at the moment so good!
I never been London before. It look pretty. I maybe go there someday if i could convince my husband. For some reasons, he doesn't want to go there. Thank you for sharing.

London is truly the navel of the world! for research in fashion and design is the maximum, it's been 1 year since I don't go there because in the last 2 seasons I have preferred to do research in Paris, but I know that I will come back soon to do research in London because it's definitely much more "ahead"!
ReplyDeletethank you so much for adding my blog to your links, I did the same with your fab blog! enjoy your stay in London!
ReplyDeleteLove London, want to be londoner too!

Cool post on London. I definitely want to travel there someday (hopefully soon)
ReplyDeleteYou know I've been to London a handful of times, and the last time was on my own, sans husband, for London Fashion Week. Not only did I have a fabulous time-- but found myself learning the city more and more. It's just fascinating and they speak my language there - BONUS :) London fashion is where my heart's at. Can't wait to read your reviews of the shops there. Also: can you review B store and the markets?
ReplyDeletei feel like a tourist in my own city sometimes because i take pictures of all the sights haha. i love london, wish i could afford it.
ReplyDeleteTotally LOVE Spitalfields and Brick Lane. Love those pics. Can't get enough. i also like the Camden Garden and Soho areas too for eating and shopping.
ReplyDeleteI'm finally going to Paris next year and everyone else I've spoken to loves Paree more than London. I've been to London 3 times so let's see if Paris can steal my heart.
My biggest gripe about london is the food! outside of gastro pubs and ethnic, the food scene is pricey and often disappointing. but otherwise, love going to London. always a blast.
Hi there, I just stop by to see how are you doing?. Take care and have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteHanh,
